Welcome to Wonderlust — A Space for Stories, Reflection, and Curiosity
Hi there! I’m Pam — a nurse, writer, and lifelong wonderer based in Houston, Texas. Wonderlust is my creative corner on the internet — a personal blog about travel, reflection, language, and the beauty of everyday moments.
What began as a stress outlet slowly grew into something deeper: a space to pause, process, and rediscover my love for writing. Here, you’ll find pieces of my life: stories from my travels, thoughts about slow living, and reflections on the small things that make life meaningful.
It’s a pleasure to meet you and thank you for being here!
Why Wonderlust?
Yes, it’s spelled wonderlust — not wanderlust — and that’s intentional.
When I first thought of starting a blog, I knew I wanted to write about my travels. But as the idea evolved, I realized I wanted to write not just about where I go, but also about what I notice and how I feel along the way.
So, Wonderlust became a mix of wonder and wanderlust — a word that captures both curiosity and exploration, whether that’s through new destinations or quiet reflections at home.
Refilling A Dried-Up Well
I’ve been writing on and off for more than a decade. Back in college, blogging came naturally — the words just flowed. But like many, I put writing aside when adult life and work took over. Years later, burnout reminded me how much I missed it.
Returning to writing felt like drawing water from a dried-up well. It wasn’t easy– the words didn’t come as smoothly and I had to consult a thesaurus more often than I used to–but I remembered why I loved it. Writing gives shape to my thoughts, meaning to my experiences, and comforts me when my mind is too chaotic.

Like many, I had my doubts when I first started writing again. It’s been a long time since I put my thoughts in paper. I questioned whether I still had “it”, and whether someone would actually bother to read what I have to say. I admit, it took many revisions before I finally got by groove back, somewhat.
Now, Wonderlust is my digital journal–a blend of travel stories, reflections, and lessons learned along the way.
There’s a quote from a Filipino writer that deeply resonated with me:

Loose translation: If you feel the urge to write, that means you have many stories brewing within.
That line reminded me that it’s not about perfection or audience size: it’s about expression. It’s about giving those stories a place to live. And that’s what Wonderlust has become — a collection of stories waiting to be told.
